Clearview Coaching's Approach to Counselling
Clearview Coaching's counselling service draws from four approaches: Expand Perspective, Attachment, Bio/Psycho/Social/Spiritual, and Internal Family Systems.
1. Expand Perspective
Sometimes there are moments in life where we feel stuck. What we desire is understanding.
No understanding often brings: Shame, Hiding, Alterations to our true and authentic selves.
When we do understand often brings: Meaning, Compassion, Empathy and Patience. All of us desire to understand ourselves better.
2. Attachment
Attachment theory addresses the impact of our earliest childhood experiences.
We acknowledge that a person can not escape the past, but with intentional processing, the past can become integrated into our life and we can be free of unwanted reactions and responses.
3. Bio/Psycho/Social/Spiritual
Bio: Our physical bodies have an impact on our mental health. Our bodies will also respond to stresses and challenges in our live and are a powerful indicator of where change needs to occur.
Psycho: Our mental health impacts our capacity, creativity, and connectivity with others and the world around us.
Social: We do not exist in isolation. The people and community we live in impact our life experience.
Spiritual: Acceptance of a greater influence then ourselves is key to letting go of control and taking on the responsibilities that were meant for us, but no more.
4. Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems acknowledges that there are different aspects of ourselves that work together (or not) to help us navigate and survive the world around us.
Addressing the motivations of each of the different parts of us often releases the internal tensions and conflict we experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions and concerns about our counselling services.
We offer a variety of session styles and lengths. At this time all of our sessions are virtual or over the phone which gives you the flexibility to be in a location of your choosing and not worry about the commute, parking, and geographical distance from your therapist.
Recommendations:
a). We recommend committing to once-a-week sessions to begin. This will give you the greatest chance of experiencing change and gaining momentum. Eventually, you and your therapist will decide when to scale down to bi-monthly, once a month, and eventually take a break from therapy but this is unique to each individual.
b). Session length is tailored to the need of each client based on the availability of the therapist. Some clients would rather have fewer but longer sessions (3hrs+) and others may want shorter sessions (30 or 60 minutes). We have standard options available when booking, but this topic will be discussed at the first session and will be tailored to your needs moving forward.
c). Consultation calls are available upon request.
We use the Psychologists' Association of Alberta fee standards as our guide, however, we want to make counselling affordable, but also reasonable given the education and experience of our therapists.
30 minutes $88
60 minutes $176
90 minutes $264
120 minutes $352
3 hours $528
Benefits coverage varies by provider, so it is important to check what credentials are required by your insurance company before you start.
